Investing in Tanzanite
Tanzanite is considered to be the world’s rarest gemstone. Unlike most other gemstones found at several places in the world, Tanzanite is found only in one place, a small place called Marelani at the foothills of the Arusha Mountains, located in the Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley.
According to geologists, this only known source of Tanzanite will deplete within a decade. Tanzanite owes its existence to the collisions of 2 continents 585 million years ago, a geological miracle. The possibility of finding another natural source of Tanzanite is very remote. So we are a blessed generation that has the opportunity to adore and own this gemstone.
Tanzanite changes colors when it is viewed from different directions or when viewed under different lighting conditions. This shifting of colors facilitates raising consciousness and inner strength. It is such a special stone that for the first time in 100 years, the official list of birthstones was amended to add Tanzanite as the birthstone of December. More Tanzanite is found in museums more than is worn by people. One of the most famous Tanzanites, ‘Queen of Kilimanjaro’ is a 242 carat Tanzanite set into a tiara which is currently on display at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. It is a part of the private collection of Michael Scott, the first CEO of Apple Computers and an expert in colored gemstones.
